My Vision is to create meaningful lighting designs that transform stage narratives and transport the audiences into a world illuminated by imagination. It is the thrill of witnessing the transformative power of light and its ability to enhance the audience's experience that fuels my passion and drives me to continuously strive for excellence. The moments of pure magic are created when the lights, the performers, the story and the audiences are in one shared microcosm.
My Story
I was five years old when I stepped into my first dance class and since then I have had the opportunity to experience and immerse myself in the myriad aspects of the performing arts. This journey continues to be truly transformational.
As a professional dancer with over fifteen years of performing experience, I learnt very early on that lighting is viscerally important to propel a narrative forward. Being part of Natya Institute of Kathak & Choreography and STEM Dance Kampni expanded my horizons, opened new doors and equipped me with multi-disciplinary knowledge. I developed a keen interest in Lighting and Multi media design which led me to honing my skills in designing, programming, and operating lighting systems. This fusion of passions led me to pursue a career that allows me to blend creativity and technical expertise seamlessly. I believe that the play of lights and its craftmanship can transform an ordinary stage into extraordinary spaces.
My design process is a delicate balance between innovation and practicality. I stay updated with the latest lighting technologies and techniques, constantly exploring new possibilities to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with light. However, I also understand the importance of working within the constraints of the venue, budget, and technical requirements to deliver results that exceed expectations while remaining feasible.
Collaboration is at the heart of my work. I believe that the best designs are born from open communication, trust, and teamwork. Whether it's brainstorming ideas, coordinating with other production departments, or providing guidance during the installation and tech rehearsals, I am committed to fostering a positive and collaborative environment throughout the entire process.
Short Profile
Keerthikumar is a sought-after Lighting Designer who works with several renowned dance companies, dancers, musicians and theatre groups across India and Singapore. His design works with STEM Dance Kampni, Punyah Dance Company, Narthaki.com, Omkar Arts Singapore and others have been critically acclaimed.
He has presented talks on Lighting & Multimedia Design at important art seminars.
Keerthi Kumar is a Kathak and Indian contemporary dance artiste. He is a Principal dancer and Head of Projects of STEM Dance Kampni and has performed and toured across India and over 18 countries extensively. He is also a Nattuvanar and a Padhant artiste.
He co-founded ARTMOS (artmosproductions.com) through which he creates original choreographic works for educational institutions and works with artistes to create specially curated events, fastidious production design and their mindful execution.
